Forbidden Truth

There’s an unpopular destination in the mind that is avoided like Chernobyl. There’s no nuclear waste found there but the fear of devastation is just as large. When your existence is propped up by fragile irrationalizations the smallest amount of truth can crush you.

To support the momentum of your false beliefs, one only needs to latch on to a single crippled delusion in a galaxy full of overwhelming truths. The junked out vehicle of denial may not take you to the promised land but it’s enough for your presumed self to carry on another day.

Daily Prompt: Denial

I’ve read so many articles in fact stating that our minds shape and transform reality, otherwise it would devastate us.
Your post, so true and so poetic in the same time.

Self-preservation of our beliefs and identity must have been vital to our survival for most of human history. I’m often surrounded by people who live in their own fairytale. Maybe it’s better that way. Thanks for leaving your thoughts and kind words.
